Movie Travel
Iceland (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty)
They made a movie about dropping your burdens and living free. A man that once daydreamed of adventure finds himself in destinations that include Reykjavik Iceland. The scenery - a mix of ocean, mountains, volcano, countryside, and a dive bar, prove that Iceland is, in fact, the paradise you imagined.
Montana (River Wild)
Not a fisher- no problem. With Montana as a backdrop, you'll find a way to be one with nature one way or another. This movie was filmed almost entirely within Glacier National Park and the Kootenai River. Montana is quietly becoming of one the States' most underrated travel destinations. This movie proves that we all net to get back to nature.
Nambia (Fury Road)
No, it's not all CGI. Mad Max Fury Road film was made in the deserts of Nambia in Africa. No, you don't want to be chased by an angry post apocalyptic gang, but you might want to explore the beauty of this unique and rarely traveled land.
Amsterdam (Fault in our Stars)
Amsterdam. No need to say much more. This movie is touches the heart in more ways than I care to discuss, and it's highly recommended- insert Kleenex ad here. You can find two love birds exploring Amsterdam and sitting on a bench overlooking one of Amsterdam's many canals.
Oaxaca, Mexico (Y Tu Mamá También)
Mexico never looked so special. The American road trip is alive and well in this classic 2001 drama. While some scenes were filmed in Mexico City, an unlikely trio journeys across the countryside, only stopping in small towns with big spirit along an Oaxaca highway, and to explore the vast and beautiful central Pacific ocean.
Montepulciano (Under the Tuscan Sun)
Buying s home is difficult enough- why not do so in Tuscany. This movie makes "House Hunters" look like child's play as an American woman works to restore a classic Tuscan home. When her dream home is finished, welcome to paradise.
Thailand (The Beach/James Bond)
You've seen it on TV, it's in the back of your mind, you've probably even dreamed about it. The iconic scenery from "The Beach" steals the show from a budding star in Leo. Filmed in Phuket, the beach made youngsters everywhere want to go for an exclusive swim on the shores of Thailand. Nearby, in the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun, scenery from Khao Phing Kan and Ko Ta Pu have been popularly called James Bond Island.
Barcelona (Vicky, Christina, Barcelona)
Fall in love with art and the culture in this Woody Allen film. You will definately catch the travel bug, and your only cure is a tall glass of wine in one of Spain's most beautiful cities, Barcelona.
Lake Como (Ocean's 12)
My favorite film of the Ocean's trio is "Oceans 12," with all credit to it's beautiful landscapes. Watching makes me want to quit my job and rob art galleries, I mean- live along beautify Lake Como. While it's easy to be distracted by George Clooney's eyes and Brad Pitt's forever boyish good looks....the dream of living along this Italian paradise makes this one of our favorites.
Procida (The Talented Mr. Ripley)
This was an amazing movie staring Jude, Gwen, Matt, and Phil. But thanks to the beauty of Italy's southern coast, I can watch this move over and over again. As a youngster, I swore Mongibello was a real place. Well, Mongibello is fake, but you can find the beautiful stucco manors atop coastal hills featured in Procida, Italy.
