The New pilgrim

Jules Rose

When I was a child, I wanted to be a doctor, then a lawyer, an astronaut, a chef, and finally a business man. Well, I became a business man and I married a lawyer. I occasionally visit my doctor, love watching the stars, and have explored the canvas of chefs across the world. But my unfulfilled childhood memory involves a simple game in which I would place my tiny finger on a spinning globe to predict my travels as an adult.

Recently, I gave-in to my childhood dream to create stories in a land far, far, away. After realizing my “9 to 5” required travel from “5 to 9 pm,” I decided to feed the growing travel bug inside. I embraced life on the road and made a home away from home in cities across the US. I added an extra day, night, or weekend to each business trip. I was a business man by day, and a tourist by night! This became my life for years- exploring the country in short 2 or 3 day excursions. Over time, I expanded my travels “across the pond” and to locations that may only be found with the assistance of my trusty globe. And so, the Weekend Pilgrim was born.

I am a seeker of new experiences. I want to explore the world through the lens of a camera and with an unbiased pallet. I come alive with the sound of music. I am never done learning. So, this year, and for the rest of my life, my classroom will be on the road and my text book will be the pilgrimage that follows.
